Normally my afternoons are reserved for fetching the kids, sports matches, or extra-murals, and then dinner. I am so energised by face-to-face meetings). My goodness, do I love the face-to-face ones. Then the workday goes and it’s a balance of crossing things off my to-do list and meetings (teams and face to face. Such a good time to prep for the day and also catch up on my personal / home admin. Kids off to school and then normally at my desk by 7:15 am. Mornings start in a flurry of all things kids. Describe your average workday, if such a thing exists.Ī. I can still remember that day! We went all in. Once we could all but touch and feel it, we needed to decide what it was “worth”? Did we believe in it enough, but equally, were we willing to lose that capital if it just didn’t work. We developed the ideas over a few months after the initial prototype. Then returned to SA and have been back for 18 years. I left SA for the UK at 18 (1 month out of school) and spent 4 years there, working and learning. As cliched as it sounds, I am in the school of life. I don’t have any tertiary degrees to my name. Where did you study and what did you study?Ī. Equally, entrepreneurship and start-ups normally run very ‘lean’, meaning I am also, accounts, salaries, sales, and admin. I take inspiration from so many places and believe that it expands my ideas, allowing that to flow to our product and its development, if and when the time is right. I’m constantly looking for the next cool thing to complement our product, who is the next cool brand/business to collaborate with. My eyes are always peeled, ears are to the ground. I am a founding partner but all-round go-getter. The technical team that supported our product from day one are what took Airshot from being something that might be quite cool to the magical app that it is today. HOW, well, with many unknowns, a lot of lessons (some tough and some really really awesome) and of course some capital. In terms of WHEN the idea was born probably 7-8 years ago! We started the process of developing and building the app about 5 years ago and then launched officially in 2019. We realised that you needed to give the user (whether it’s a retailer, sales rep, or call centre agent) the tools to affect change. There was very little engagement and most winners were by pure luck! This needed to change. What we realised, very quickly, was that the traditional channels were cluttered and the margins for success were low. One of our passions has always been incentives, and the opportunities that successful incentives offer a business: from concept, through the process, to the prize. When, how and why did you start your business?Ī. Through this focus, we enable businesses to target communication & sales on the PROFITABLE, growth elements of their business. It can be utilised by an array of industries to motivate and incentivise sales teams/employees to drive behavioural change and increase sales. Airshot is a stand-alone app that delivers business data in an engaging format. Can you please tell us more about your business?Ī.
